I think we must consider Abergavenny as an honourary Merlin Location due to the antics of our adorkable Bradley and his video camera towards the end of the third episode of Merlin: Secrets & Magic. Bless him! So during my latest Merlin Locations Tour, I made a pilgrimage to this Welsh market town. Or, to be exact, to the town's railway station. In honour of both Bradley Himself and my dear friend
gealach_ros.
how it's used in Secrets & Magic
Mmm, well, do I need to elaborate? I'm sure we're all familiar with the footage by now! Bradley has been dropped off at the station to make his own way home from there. He is bored and (at least to start with) all alone. He decides to try out the remote control for his video camera. Much amusement ensues! This lovely young man could not be more adorable if he tried.
the place itself
There are actually reasons to visit Abergavenny other than Bradley James. No, really. There's a castle there. Also, it's at the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons, a beautiful if somewhat stark mountain range with National Park status. If you're a Torchwood fan, you'll recognise the atmospheric scenery from episode 106 Countrycide, which was filmed almost entirely in the Brecon Beacons. (The fourth photo above shows a glimpse of the Beacons from the pedestrian bridge crossing the railway lines.)
In any case, Abergavenny is only ten miles from Raglan Castle, so why not add it to your own Merlin Locations Tour…? If you want to roll around on the station platform a la Bradley, it's easy enough because you don't even have to go through a ticket barrier to get there.

Well… to be honest, it's not really high in my Merlin Location priorities but Abergavenny is a nice place in itself, and the Brecon Beacons are pretty awesome, and Bradley is just made of win. ♥ I'll give it a solid three pointy hats.
