Locations friend winwin7 received confirmation via a MCM London Expo podcast chat that there will be no Merlin panel at the Expo this coming weekend.

Disappointing, though I suppose not entirely unexpected at this point! You can check out the transcript of the chat in a post here.

Thank you, hon! I totally agree - it's not just the event itself we'll miss, but the photos and the icons and the general squee... Also perhaps some more details re the new season!

In fact, it strikes me as a bit odd, given the timing, that they didn't make the effort to have some kind of presence, even if the main actors couldn't all be there - simply for the sake of following up on the news re the new season!

I always like the photos and the fans showing their support. I guess the Beeb figures it doesn't need to promote it any more? Which isn't a good thing, imo.

I am with you regarding the range of enjoyment to be had from these events, whether or not we can attend!

It's hard to know, of course, what BBC/Shine are thinking in terms of publicity - but I am still assuming they would be there if they could, and some combination of budget, logistics and bad luck was working against them.

I guess all we can do is hope there will be other opportunities soon! ♥

Alas, yes! Though I suppose we do have heaps to be getting on with... and it will make us appreciate the next lot even more...

But in the meantime, how are we going to find out whether the boys chucked out their razors when filming ended...? :-D

Ah that's a shame. Still I imagine they're still knackered from filming and are catching up with their friends and families. There's always next year :) They've done 4 now so I imagine they'll go back.

I'll be going to Expo anyway just cause it's always a good day out :D

Ah, you are being far kinder to them than me! Yes, I am sure everyone's still knackered, and of course Johnny and Julian will still be madly busy with post-production (and working to a schedule that's one week ahead of last year's screenings). But with a current season being shown, and a new one just announced, I was expecting them to insist upon doing it anyway! It would be nice if some of our actors are already involved in other projects, though I haven't heard anything - that's an excuse/reason I can easily accept for a no-show. But even nice little old me will merely sulk and pout and grumble if it turns out that the only reason is that they're too tired...

Ooh, look at my mean streak coming out! Did you even know I had one? :-D

I've a feeling that as the 4th series was only just announced that even if they said "We have to do a pannel!" they might have been a little late booking for Expo as I imagine they're nearly fully booked guest wise. Or there may be a deadline for guests saying they can make it. I can't see Expo turning them away voluntarily as they've been very popular the past couple of years.

Let's hope there's something small near christmas for us all to attend :D
