Pierrefonds - 20 June
Please be warned that these reports and the photos on Flickr now contain some serious casting (guest and recurring), costume, and prop spoilers.
It was a very hot day today, and we had more fans in attendance, but no groups of school children. Filming was in bits and pieces;
yavannauk understood that the schedule has been reorganised, and speculated that they couldn't film the main 'Colin in the Courtyard' scene today because it was so very sunny. I suppose you can lighten or darken an overcast day, but there's not much you can do to tone down a really bright day.
Filming had already begun despite me getting there relatively early. Angel filmed a short scene running down the steps that lead up to the emperor's apartments, and heading out of the castle. She was dressed in black {gasp} and looking furtive, as if she was sneaking out on a secret mission. The gown was black velvet, with dark purple lining to the long sleeves, in a snug-fitting medieval style. She wore a mid-length black cape with a hood over the top. Angel looked beautiful, of course, but this creates all kinds of curiosity over what Gwen was doing.
Another scene was shot which involved extras setting up a gallows in the courtyard. It was filmed from a low angle, through a grill - that is, from the point of view of someone looking up through a dungeon window. Both these scenes were filmed by Dale McCready, so they would be Block One episode(s).
Tomiwa came in, dressed in Elyan's usual full armour, and shot a brief scene inside.
Other filming took place inside, I assume in the great hall. This involved the whole regular cast, as we saw all the main actors, including the knights, coming in and heading out again afterwards. Also, Alice Troughton was filming something in the guard's room (also used as the banqueting hall).
Colin was filmed coming out of the door in the far left corner of the courtyard, but I was too short to see much of that! Late in the day, he also filmed a short scene running along the narrow (outside) path from behind the winged lion statue towards the balcony where Uther used to stand.
I took a lot of photos of Dale ♥, one of Angel, and a few of Colin - but the latter were in the direct sunlight of late afternoon, so they are rather bleached out! Poor Colin, running along out there in full costume, with the director asking him to go 'a little faster - if you can!' I understand that Colin also took the time to come over to the fans to sign autographs, which was very generous of him. Again, I'll come back with a link once I've uploaded the photos. ETA: The photos, such as they are, are now here.
And I'm afraid that's that for today!
ETA2: The lovely Katie dropped by, but in 'civilian' clothes.

DALE! *_* Looking forward to pics of him...
Someone tweeted (http://t.co/bRTNOW6S) a pic of Gwen, wow, another gorgeous dress. I wonder what meaning the colour has, though and what she's been up to.
Thanks again for sharing your report with us. ♥

I hope I did you proud with the photos of Dale. I got a bit of a teasing this morning, about how many there were. But what's a girl to do when the talent behind the camera is as hot as what's in front of it...? :-D
Thanks for the link to the photo of Angel. They are really giving full rein to her beauty these days! It's lovely to see. <3
My first thought re the black was also to wonder what Gwen is up to. But then she could be sneaking around for legitimate reasons, and the black was a 'disguise'. Or she could be in mourning. Or... One thing for sure is that the show is always full of surprises!
So glad to be sharing my days with you, hon. ♥

I've read that Colin has to be careful not to be in the sun too long or he'll get a tan. Something they don't want him to do I'm guessing.
You mentioned school group?? Is school still in over there? Our public schools are out for the summer, but as I told you I homeschool year round.. my kids don't get a break..(she laughs wickedly)
I'm so glad you had such a nice day. Productive as well. Alas, Its another scorcher here today.. it's around 97. It's 2:30 in the afternoon and only getting hotter. Next week we're looking at near 110 degrees with the heat index. Not so good for the forest fire that's been burning across town.
Looking forward to your pics. I'll check them out later.
Take Care

Yes, Colin said in the first season video diaries that he was told to stay out of the sun. The idea being that he can't appear as a 'pasty Irish boy' in one scene shot in Wales, and then as tanned in the following scene shot in France. I'm pretty sure he said later on that they had relaxed rather on that... although now I can't think where he said that. Perhaps he has convinced them that he's a diligent user of sun screen, or something!
I see you have your answer re the school dates. But yes, we had more school groups through today. All very little people! Not having kids myself, I always find it hard to guess, but they tend to seem about 7 or 8 years old to me. And obviously France has about a million of the darlings, unless they're just sending the same few batches through time and again! :-D
I hope that all is working out for you and yours re the heat and the forest fire. Not good!
Thank you again for all your kind words.

Thanks for the update. I look forward to yours every day!
Just be glad it's not 95F like it is here at the moment. Can you imagine the actors in those costumes? They'd roast.
Was Merlin ever up in that balcony? I know Uther and Arthur were but I don't remember Merlin up there.

I'm glad you're enjoying my little updates!
No, I can't think that Merlin was ever up there. The only scene I can think of when he was up at that height was during the famine in The Labyrinth of Gedref, when he was empathising with Arthur's man-pain. And that, as I'm sure you know, was on the opposite side of the courtyard. However, given my memory, I could be forgetting something very significant!

Love that one where he's lying on the floor: see how passionate he is in his job..

Just a little question, do you know if they are going to be filming next week? would you mind to ask someone from the crew? You see, I don't want to take any risks booking a hotel room.

Did you see the 'behind the scenes' crew again?
I have yet to ask for any details of what this might become
Please, do so! :) Hopefully it won't be just a 15-minute documentary put on the dvd.

Alas, I haven't seen the behind-the-scenes crew over the past couple of days. But if I get the chance I'll ask for a llittle extra info on Monday (my last day).
