Hey everyone. This is probably a somewhat odd request and I hope its okay to post it here. I'm planning to go to France around June 20th and visit Pierrefonds from June 21-23, and as hotels are scarce and the prices are high I was wondering if there were any other girls going around that time who might be interested in sharing a room to save money etc.? Just thought I'd give it a shot and ask :)

I'll be there the week before so, sorry, I already got my room and stuff booked (we'll be staying at the Best Western in Compiegne). Yet - even though chances are pretty high I already mentioned it - it will be most likely just the crew packing things away at that time because it's the last few days of the filming schedule. Chances that any of the (main) cast will be there at that time is pretty low.

Really? I heard Merlin was scheduled to film until the 24th of June and I heard the cast will be there until the second to last day, so that would be the 23rd. I hope they will still be there :(

I was told by one of the members of the camera crew that filming is schedule from May 27 to June 24, yes.

But the first and last three days are always just the crew setting things up and packing them away. If you're lucky, the main cast will be there until June 21, but seeing that this day is a Monday, I'd say they'll only be filming until Friday (June 18). They do not film on weekends and letting the cast stay over the weekend just for one more day of filming would be too expensive for BBC.

So, yeah, chances are pretty low that they'll be there in the last week scheduled for filming because every other time those first and last few days were always just the crew doing .. things. Whatever.

Also, you may have already read it because I posted it before, there's a lot of graduations from boarding schools during that time in June so most hotels are pretty much already sold out. If you really want to go there you should book quickly.

Based on my experiences both last year and with the April filming this time, of the dates given on the Pierrefonds website it's just been the first and last day that have been the crew only. So for June I'd expect them to be filming from 7th - 23rd June.

I can only say what Sebastien and the lady from the Pierrefonds office told me which is that it's most likely that it'll be just the crew packing things away again in the last week scheduled for filming.

Plus, the main cast will start filming on either June 2 or June 3, the three days prior are for the crew to set things up. According to that Pierrefonds office lady, the same amount of time - she was told - would it take to pack everything away again.

You may however still try, maybe you're lucky, but according to experience when it comes to their schedule, the crew members and that Pierrefonds lady, your chances are pretty low that they'll be there in the last week scheduled in June.

Some extras may be there, or the 'lower' cast members. The main cast however, well, as I said, I wouldn't be expecting too much. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you however .. if you manage to find a hotel.

I can only go by the fact that I've watched Bradley and Colin filming on the penultimate dates listed for previous blocks. And, yes, I was never expecting the cast to head to France before the bank holiday weekend, as with the Easter weekend in April.

I'm going earlier in June myself and had no problem getting a hotel booking.

That's because the boarding schools graduations are not in early June, but starting from June 14 to .. well, I don't know when all schools will be finished.

Oh, and I wouldn't actually count on the website to be accurate. After all, even though filming in April is already finished, they still keep changing the dates. At first it was April 1, than eight, now it's April 4 again for the filming to start. The ending dates of the filming where changed a couple of times as well (and still are) ... I am wondering who changes those dates. We already have May and they keep changing the dates for April lol

I think the problem with the currently listed dates is that they forgot to change the month from April to June, that's all. The actual date part seems to fit what we were expecting.

Those dates don't match though. As I said I already talked to one of the ladies in Pierrefonds who manage all that filming stuff going on and she confirmed the schedule from May 27 to June 24. Why would they post different dates if that's the dates they got told by the crew? That doesn't make any sense.

The castle website doesn't usually include the dates that just involve preparation work rather than actual filming - hence the change in April from 1st to 8th.

As I said in my comment below, based on past experience, I would expect them to be filming from 7th - 23rd June based on the currently available dates. Obviously, this might still change as was the case with the April dates...

Gonna ignore the MAJOR negativity from the previous replies and say I hope you find a hotel and stuff!

Me and a friend will be at Pierrefonds around the same time (we already have accommodation sorted sorry) but hope to see you around there! I for one am hoping for the filming to still be going on :-)

Hello, neda16! Sorry I didn't see this post and the discussion it generated until just now. Obviously your mod has been having a mental holiday... and indeed a physical one this week, as I am currently posting from Mold. :-D

For what it's worth, my experience last year was the same as yavannauk - both setting up and packing up involved one day with only crew there, at least in the June and September blocks. Also, in April this year, they began and ended with two-day 'weeks' of filming, involving the main cast. Based on that, your plan of being there 21-23 June is a good one.

However, things do change. And we are never told officially what's happening. We can only make decisions based on the experience of our fellow fans, and the advice we receive. The sources that singlenightster cites are good ones, but her information is different to my own previous experience - which may not count for much now anyway. The only way we ever know for sure what's happening on a particular day in Pierrefonds is for a fan to be there and report back directly!

I'm afraid it's now up to you to make a decision for yourself. If it were me, I'd feel fairly confident about those dates. Obviously not everyone would agree. I wish you luck, and I will keep my fingers (toes, eyes) crossed for you! ♥
