It's now September, and our latest icon fest is officially closed... but please don't let that stop you! We will always be glad to see icons posted here that celebrate not only our beautiful filming locations, but also our heroes behind the camera. Indeed, if you want to contribute a late entry, there's probably time to do so!

Thank you so much to those who took part by contributing icons to the fest: [livejournal.com profile] 1nagromniloc , [livejournal.com profile] archaeologist_d , [livejournal.com profile] chayiana , [livejournal.com profile] gealach_ros , [livejournal.com profile] yavannauk  and, well, me! :-D You all created really beautiful and interesting icons, and I was delighted to see them.

the future and its scenes )

ETA: I have now uploaded the icons - or most of them! I started by sorting the icons into those I would post to the website and those I wouldn't, in line with the approach detailed above. It's a privacy issue, yes? I'm sure you'll understand. Anyway, by the time I'd uploaded the first batch to our Userpics page, I'd used up most of the second of two extra icons packages I've bought - and I still had well over 30 icons waiting in the second batch. It wasn't so much the expense that stopped me, as the thought that we will no doubt have other icon fests in the future, and there seems little point in uploading icons now if we're only going to have to {sniff} delete them later to make room for more. So I left it as is. If anyone has any serious objections to this, then please let me know via comment or PM!

I have since uploaded the first batch of icons to a new entry on the website. You can find it here. For those of you with icons, you might like to double-check that I've credited everything correctly. If anyone wants anything changed here, please let me know.

Thank you!

Mods I'm not sure if this is allowed or not but as the main focus of the mood theme is nature, scenery and locations I thought it would be okay to share it here. Please let me know if you wish for it to be deleted. I wasn't sure what to tag the entry so I tagged it resources: icons.

Here are my offerings for the current icon fest!

As always, it seemed a much harder process than I'd anticipated, but I think some of these work as I'd hoped. :-) I hope you enjoy them!

I've made some icons for the current icon fest. Owing to my desktop pc's very fatal demise I had to create these on my netbook. Consequently, I don't know what they look like on a larger screen, so apologies if they're a bit unpolished.

All the photos used were taken by me at Pierrefonds.

Hi there, I also made a few crew and staff icons for 'The Other Side of the Camera' icon fest!

Alas, I'm not so good with captions ^^, so, if anyone has a nice idea for a caption, let me know and I'll be happy to alter the icons...or you could do it yourself. ;o)

I have made some icons for 'The Other Side of the Camera' icon fest!
They are not special, only pics in 100x100. Some with our cast , because I could not resist :)

These are all I've got. When I looked, I thought I had more but... I focused on the cast, not the crew. Sorry! Read more... )

Welcome to the Merlin Locations community's second icons fest – dedicated to our heroes and heroines behind the camera! During the last 21 days of August 2010 we want to see your crew-related icons. Do you think Dale or Jeremy would look damned fine in front of a camera if only they weren't such geniuses behind it? Want to offer a visual ode to Johnny and Julian for creating and producing our awesome show? Think that Andreas is a pint-sized bottle of awesome sauce? Hankering to honour an unsung hero or celebrate the women on the other side of the camera? Now's your chance!

Dale McCready + Bradley James Jeremy Webb Johnny Capps Dale McCready

Here's some I created earlier from my own photos… but I'm sure you can do better! Come join the fun!

here's the plan...

It's 38 days until the third season of Merlin starts (I'm assuming 18 September), and we have to pass the time somehow. How better than to celebrate the people who are busy creating our show even as we speak? Let's create lots of lovely icons focussing on the people behind the camera (without invading their privacy). Once we're done, I'll buy some more icon space for the community, and load it up with the pretty. I'll also do a post to the website including the icons it seems appropriate to share with the wider community. The icons will be available for snagging by those who would like to use them (with credit, of course). And once we're done, Merlin will only be 18 days away!

I've copied below some of my photos from the London Expo panel on 29 May (and also some icons wot I made). The panel was fun, and Colin was so very very hot, Angel and Katie were delightful, and Johnny was engaged and interesting.

More full-size photos with a zip file of both edited and unedited images is available on the [livejournal.com profile] merlin_sceneit  community, in this post.

Please feel free to make use of any of these in any way you like, but a credit to [livejournal.com profile] merlinlocations  or merlinlocations.com would be greatly appreciated! ♥

ETA: I think my brain has melted with the hotness... Belated but very sincere thanks to [livejournal.com profile] asifidletyou  for her lovely company. ♥ And we were lucky enough to meet someone who has been a good friend to us fans: Louise Wylie of the Arts Council. She has shared so many beautiful photos of the boys with us, taken by Phillipa Gedge for A Night Less Ordinary; it was wonderful to be able to thank her in person. ♥

I posted a bunch of Pierrefonds icons on my journal.

Please feel free to take any or all of them. Just give me credit. They are also on my Flickr account under Merlin locations. Hopefully, I've figured out the privacy buttons there. :(

I was absolutely delighted at how our Merlin Locations icon fest worked out. Here's some stats, because I'm dorky that way:
  • We had a total of 201 icons posted. Hurrah!
  • Pierrefonds featured in 89 of those 201 icons.
  • Including Pierrefonds, the icons covered 18 different locations.
  • The icons were created by me and five lovely iconographers: [livejournal.com profile] archaeologist_d, [livejournal.com profile] gealach_ros, [livejournal.com profile] luisadeza, [livejournal.com profile] nenimefish, and [livejournal.com profile] yavannauk. Thank you, my darlings!
  • We all used our own photos, which I think is awesome, along with some beautiful photos taken by our sweet [livejournal.com profile] gwy.

I have now uploaded 104 of the icons to our userpic page. You can see them here!

I made sure that all the locations and all the iconographers were represented. Otherwise, I tried to choose a range of styles and subjects, and also considered which ones were mentioned most in comments. Oh, and obviously I had to include the one with Colin in it. (If any of the iconographers would have preferred me to make a different decision about their own icons, please get in touch! My judgement is hardly infallible, alas...)

I am now pondering whether / how to include the icons (all 201 of them!) on the website and/or Flickr group. If anyone has any thoughts on that, I'd appreciate hearing them. In any case, I wouldn't upload anything without the iconographer's permission.

Thank you all for participating, whether with icons, admiration or comments. While the icon fest is over for now, I hope you will all feel free to post or link to your locations icons here!

P.S. And now we only have to wait another 191 days until the third season begins...

ETA: Have just finished uploading all the icons to the website. You can find them here! Thank you all again! I've really enjoyed this.

Ooh, I have to admit I'm a bit nervous about posting these. Icons aren't really my strong point and I now have even more respect for all those talented icon makers out there in the fandom. Still, it's been a learning experience and I've had fun. Apologies for these being a day late, I completely forgot I had made them ^^;

All images used are my own. Below the cut you'll find:

- 6 Glastonbury Abbey icons
- 2 Winchester Great Hall icons
- 13 Chateau de Pierrefonds Icons

It is the end of the month, and the (official) end of our icon fest. Thank you so much to those of you who have participated! We've received some really beautiful and really fun icons, in a great range of styles. I've been totally stoked by the response. ♥

If anyone would like to submit some last-minute icons to be included in the fest, please feel free. In fact, I hope anyone wanting to create locations icons at any time in the future will feel free to post them here.

Here's three last offerings from me:

♦ All photos were taken by me.
♦ Feel free to snag, but comments and credits are love! ♥

Unfortunately I am really struggling at the moment with a vile cold/flu thing. I mean to say. I am so poorly that I am not even eating. And anyone who knows me will realise that nothing gets between me and food. NOTHING! :-/ Oh, and I have the week from hell at work coming up... So, alas, I won't get the chance to start uploading icons to the userpic page until next weekend at the earliest. Your patience will be appreciated! ♥

And thank you again. I've really enjoyed this so much, and I have no idea now why I wondered whether anyone else would even be interested. :-D

Thank you for the kind reception of my first batch of Locations icons! I thought I would keep going - though, I don't know... somehow I'm not managing to translate what's in my head into pixels. Anyway, I hope you like these.

And please remember that February isn't over yet! We have had some really beautiful Locations icons posted, and a lovely range of subject and style. But there's always room for more. Please feel free to take part, if you feel at all inclined.

♦ All photos were taken by me. (ETA: Oh, except for #17, which was taken by Mr L.)
♦ #19 is for my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] asifidletyou
♦ Feel free to snag, but comments and credits are love! ♥

Well! This is a trickier challenge than I thought it would be... Here's my first attempt at some Locations icons... I will come back and have another try soon... {ponders} I am finding this a very interesting process, but I really did think I would find it easier! :-D

I trust some of you more artistic types will come (or indeed come back!) and show me how it's done... XD
