So… after the thrills (hot!Colin) and disappointments (absent!Bradley) of the London Expo, my dear friend
asifidletyou and I took a quick Locations Tour to our two new Buckinghamshire locations: Burnham Beeches and Ivinghoe Beacon.
Burnham Beeches
Of course
asifidletyou is nothing if not tenacious when it comes to Arthur and Bradley, so we managed to find the rise over which Arthur appears in episode 104 The Poisoned Chalice…
What had thrown Jeremy and I on my last visit was that the stump in the foreground of the screencapture has since worn away. It's worth remembering that they must have been filming here about two years ago! As you face the general area from Victoria Drive, this location is at the back and just a bit to the right.
Arthur then walked his horse down into the lower part of the glade, towards where Nimueh waited. This was actually filmed off to the left of the first location, where the ground isn't as steep.
I also got a good shot of where Merlin and Lancelot run towards the fallen trees to escape the griffin.
Of course we took photos of each other sitting where Merlin had sat on the other side of the log, but I'm too embarrassed to post those…
Ivinghoe Beacon
We then headed for Ivinghoe Beacon, and enjoyed visiting the two locations there. I got a better angle for the shot of Arthur riding up from behind the rise.
We also got a shot of the chalk lion being ignored by some rather blase sheep…
And a good time was had by all! Thank you,
asifidletyou, for your lovely company. ♥

…because of course she wanted to stand Where He Stood (and so did I).

The loose branches have since been gathered near the log where Nimueh sat, but we found the one where Arthur secures his horse's reins.
