On a rather windy but dry day, May 3rd 2010, we made a visit to Tintagel in North Cornwall UK.
One reason for our visit was to take photographs of the castle and the headland where the legendary King Arthur was born.

We didn't venture onto the actual headland
1. because we weren't members of English Heritage and
2. it looked like a lot of steps. So a photo will have to do

We then walked along the coast path - westwards and when we looked back this was the view of the headland. The cave at the bottom is called Merlin's cave.

It all looked a bit of a draughty place to live.

Thank you so much for posting this, hon! ♥ I'll have to dig out my photos, too... :-) It is quite a climb onto the headland, it's true! And to be honest I wasn't much good for anything else once I'd gotten there... :-/ I hope you enjoyed yourself, even though you didn't get out that far. It's spectacular coastal scenery, in any case!

I finally got around to visiting about a month ago in the middle of that really, really hot weather. I didn't even think to post anything here due it not being an actual filming location. The views are amazing. I got some quite good pictures I think, I'll have to sort some of them out and put them somewhere to link to!

We took a pasty to eat once we got to the top which worked quite well.

I'm glad you had such a good visit to Tintagel! I think I will learn from you example and take provisions myself next time. :-D

You'll find that a lot of us here are also interested in the Arthurian legends and locations, as well as the BBC 'Merlin' filming locations and other behind-the-scenes matters, so we might wander quite far afield at times - especially during the hiatus!

I'll look forward to anything you might post. If you'd like to upload your photos to flickr, and then add them to the merlinlocations flickr group, that would be awesome! ♥

Wow, it looks beautiful! Looks like you caught some brilliant weather too. I cracked up over your comment on it being a draughty place to live, haha. XD

I haven't been there in many years but I always loved the windswept views. When we were there, the headland was closed due to rebuilding the pathway to it so we just puttered around the shore. Just lovely though. I need to get back there!
