Gosh! What an episode to start out with! We had a grand tour through a great many of our significant locations in this wonderful episode.
♦ The opening scene was, I think, filmed at Trefil Quarry. However, I haven't visited there yet, so if anyone can confirm that, that would be great!
♦ Of course we had terrific use made of the Chateau de Pierrefonds and the studio sets in Cardiff.
♦ Thanks to
pakafe, we know the jetty where Morgana and Morgause take the ferry was built at Speech House Lake.
♦ Thanks to
archaeologist_d, we know that the scenes of the ferry nearing the Isle were filmed at the moat in Raglan Castle. And as far as I could make out, the overnight scenes where the knights are nervously camping out, were also filmed there.
♦ The deserted village, both interiors and exteriors, was Cosmeston Medieval Village. (Luckily for Hunith, it wasn't Ealdor this time!)
♦ And of course Morgana is now living in Puzzlewood! Also, Merlin and Lancelot collected firewood there.

Date: 2011-10-02 04:54 am (UTC)Those of us over the pond who cant' get the show are hoping you all will share with us what happened.
I just read a tweet off of Alice Troughtons "twitter redirected to #Merlin trends and someone posted:
"Merlin is DEAD he will return as flashbacks only."
Say it isn't so.
I know it's just a television show but I had the worst feeling when I read that.
*sadly*

Did you get my email /story re:35mm vs16mm? I sent it last summer.
I just read an interview with producers who were extolling the virtues of the new 35mmm and they gave the same reason I wrote to you. If you did not getit let me know and I will resend.

And the trailers indicate he will indeed do so again. I am not sure whether to put such moments down to easy dramatics, or to the show playing with the notion that Merlin is immortal, but such things go all the way back to the 4th episode where Gaius and Gwen thought Merlin was dead of poison and he then made a miraculous recovery.
Don't feel bad for feeling sad, though... It's not 'just' a tv show, it's something we love. And there's nowt wrong with that. ♥
P.S. No, alas, I didn't get your email! Please do re-send it... I am very very interested in this!
