Another absolutely phenomenal episode. This show just gets better and better. But…{sniffs} feeling sad now. So will just get on with business. We continued our grand tour through some iconic Merlin Locations.
♦ There was much use made of Raglan Castle, including the opening scenes with Arthur, the Knights, and poor frozen Merlin. The scenes of our heroes in the ferry nearing the Isle of the Blessed were filmed in the moat there. Also, I suspect the tower where they were attacked by wyverns was the hexagonal Great Tower. (Might have to go back to double-check!)
♦ There was more Puzzlewood for the scenes where Merlin and Lancelot are riding back to Camelot.
♦ The scene by the water where Lancelot slept and Merlin was healed was Cannop Ponds.
♦ And as with episode 204 Lancelot and Guinevere, the caves with the GIANT baby rats were filmed at Three Bears Caves for the exterior, and Clearwell Caves for the interiors. How's that for canonical consistency?!

Date: 2011-10-09 06:02 pm (UTC)After this grand tour, I wonder if we might get a few Camelot-centric episodes now? Well, yay or nay, I shall enjoy the watching in any case!

Date: 2011-10-09 06:04 pm (UTC)I think you might like Cannop Ponds. Not very much in itself, I suppose, but three significant scenes have been shot there now, and it's always fun crossing stepping stones, and then lining up tree trunks! :-D

Date: 2011-10-09 06:07 pm (UTC)And that tree, yes! I knew I'd seen it before. :-D Thank you for remembering Dale's photo. And I'm guessing the one he took looking up through a cave mouth to pretty looming trees was at Three Bears Caves - do you think so...?
I'm so glad you enjoy these posts! It's got so that a lot of the locations are very recognisable... but there's always a number of 'generic forest scenes' that I'm sure we'll never pin down. Oh well! Gives us things to look out for on our rambles...
