Pierrefonds - 22 June

Well, today was a perfectly lovely day in which to sit around doing nothing... which was just as well, as that was the slowest (filming) day I've ever spent in Pierrefonds! But then there was ♥♥♥ Rupert ♥♥♥. {swoons}



First things first. There was some filming in the balcony against the pretty stained glass above the Chateau's chapel, which involved the guest star seen on Tuesday and one of his warriors. Angel arrived in another new dress; purple this time, and beautiful, but (to my eye) a little more Victorian than medieval. She was also filming inside, though I don't know where. Meanwhile, the horses ridden by cast-doubles were filming a scene in the wooded area up towards base camp. Apparently there was also going to be some filming on the drawbridge, but again with doubles. So really there was very little to watch, and most of the main cast members were elsewhere.



No doubt the highlight of the day, for me and for many, was Rupert. He arrived with family members, dressed in 'civvies' as his own good self. I think they must have taken the opportunity to tour the Chateau. Afterwards, despite presumably having a day (or at least an afternoon) off, he was gracious enough to sign autographs and pose for photos with all the fans who wanted to. Which was quite a few! He really is a kind-hearted and delightfully friendly sort - and a terrific ambassador for this production, which already has a reputation for being a good and happy team. But then I would say that, wouldn't I? Sweet on him as I am...

So the photos today are all of Sir Rupert ♥♥♥, with a lone exception: the back of the camera truck, aka the good ship Flaming Virago. You can find the photos here.

I'm not sure where exactly you have in mind when talking about the wooded areas. In this case, they were a fair way up the road that leads to base camp, and they were obviously filming or tracking across a large area as a number of doubles on horses galloped off on the current adventure - so as far as I could tell, it was simply a matter of keeping people outside the 'frame', as it were. Not a case of more protection, but only a larger range of area to cover.

God, does that even make sense? I can't think of the right words! :-DDD

i useually get really anoyed when casts reelout the "we all get along really well i love my cast mates" poop, but it seams in merlin it really truely is tha truth. they all seam like nice down to earth people, rupert especially

This is so absolutely true! Rupert is too gorgeous for words, and even mud could not hide it. :-D

I also think it's the truth that this is a particularly happy team, from all I've seen and heard. I'm sure everyone has their off days, and all that, but generally they seem to have a great deal of fun together. Tony once said it doesn't make a difference to what you see on the screen, but for me it all adds to the magic of the whole!

Good afternoon... or should I say evening for you. The photo's are lovely and from what I can tell it was a perfectly nice day to "VIEW" the stars early...(wink ;) wink) I can certainly see why ♥Rupert♥ makes your heart skip a beat. From the way you describe him he's just as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside. Anyone who is gracious enough to pause their day and brighten someone else's is definately worth looking at. In his case it proves chivalry's not dead and there's still hope for future generations to realize just because your famous doesn't mean you have to act like a, how does merlin say it; oh yes... "A PRAT" (lol). My only dissappointment is that you didn't jump in there and get a couple with him with yourself. (I know that sounds a little self serving, but with all your time and effort keeping us up to speed, One would love to see you reap some benefit and let that man buckle your knees for just a moment) (♥ :D big mischievous grin on face.♥)
Love the little extra's about Angel and her new wardrobe as well as the pic of the truck(lol).
Once again you never cease to amaze... thank you and enjoy your evening. We're still in a heat wave with it only getting down to about 79 at night... I need two air conditioners running. (sigh)C'est la vie.

But I did take the opportunity, once he was close to done, to sneak in there and give him a little hug... I was intending to thank him for being so awesome, but I'm afraid the knee-buckling caused me to lose any coherency. {happy sighs}

I hope your heat wave doesn't last much longer! We had it warm here today (Saturday), but it wasn't so hot as to be unbearable.

I had a really hard time letting go yesterday and yes, I had some little tears in my eyes as we were climbing down that hill.

But we got home safe and in one piece, still sunburned (hey, I burn for Colin *grins*), tired and happy.

Thank you so much for taking me by the hand that first day and showing me the 'tricks of the trade'. I've had a wonderful time and it was so great finally meeting you in person. I hope we'll get to do an encore in September!

Hello! I'm thinking of coming over sometime during next week to chateau Pierrefonds. (I live 3,5 hours away from it.)
Will they still be filming next week? Did you see them pack up the stuff? I assume they will film for 2 weeks in a row? (Or maybe longer?)

Hello there! I'm sorry I didn't manage to reply to your comment before now. You may have already visited Pierrefonds, but if not then you might give it a try tomorrow (Wednesday). While I'd usually assume it's a day for the crew packing up, this time round I think they were extending the filming by a day. After that, I assume they'll be done, but I don't have any 'insider' knowledge one way or another about that. Sorry I can't help more!
