BBC Merlin Filming Locations

As I'm sure you all immediately recognised, we returned yet again to the magic of Puzzlewood for this week's ep 305 The Crystal Cave, for the opening scenes with Merlin and Arthur being chased through the woods, and then Merlin meeting Taliesin.

The crystal cave itself seemed to be the sets used for the dragon's cave redressed.

And I was pleased to see them making terrific use again of the beautiful stained glass windows above the chapel in Pierrefonds. We haven't seen them since the very first episode!

Really beautifully and dramatically photographed this episode, I thought... and I suspect I can't for once sing Dale's praises, as he took a break for the second block of filming! But alas Mr L has reclaimed the tv so I won't be able to double-check the credits... In the meantime I just had to say it though: stunning photography! ♥

ETA: And I am reliably informed that it was Dale, so this little DMC!fangirl is still dancing around like an idiot, but has now also quit feeling guilty about it. :-D Not that he'd expect me to feel guilty about it - he's always singing the praises of the other DoPs who've worked on Merlin. One of nature's gentlemen, our Dale... ♥
