I hardly have the heart to do this in much detail - and maybe some fans won't be ready for such analysis - but this is an overview of how our beloved Merlin peeps built Avalon for the final episode. A few different locations were used, and different places within those locations, so it's certainly generated some confusion and discussion. This is how I think it worked, and of course any further ideas will be very welcome.

Gosh! Another beautiful locations episode... And people are curious... My visitor numbers at the website just shot up even further than usual on a Saturday - almost double!

I am left with more questions than answers, though. Can anyone help pin these down...?

ETA3: I'll try and do a proper post about this soon, but I have had a suggestion from Richard via the website that the establishing shot of the Castle of Fyrien could used an image of Lindisfarne (the Holy Island) in Northumberland. It would have been taken from what Richard describes as the northern part of the beach - and so far I can only find photos from the other side of it, but the general shape seems right. Still not sure whether the hill inland would be part of the original place, or whether it's been added in.

I thought it worth doing another, fuller post about the locations we don't yet know the location of... I'm sure there's more than this, but these are the things that have particularly snagged my curiosity. All ideas will be welcome!
